By-Laws update - almost there!
We had a special meeting for the University Committee on Academic Governance to consider the suggested amendments that the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) have for the Academic Governance By-Laws. We deliberated and studied each proposed amendment and we voted to accept about half of them. COGS raised some very important questions and I think that the By-Laws will be better now that we have considered them. I haven't posted a list of the amendments that COGS proposed because it is six pages long, but if anyone would like more information just leave me a comment or send me an email! Thanks!

By-Laws update & Elections coming up!
I was at Academic Council yesterday and we began discussing the amendments to the Academic Governance By-Laws. We spent most of our hour and a half listening to the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) discussing a list of amendments that they would like to see included in the amended By-Laws. Next Thursday (April 1st) I will probably see some of those suggested changes in the University Committee for Academic Governance (UCAG) and I can report on them in greater detail then.
Also, the Academic Assembly had our last meeting last night for this session and elections will begin this Monday (29th) and run until the next Monday (5th). I encourage everyone to get out and vote. Your voice is very important and we need your input to help make ASMSU a better organization in the years to come!

Ideas for ASMSU
Hey everyone!
I wanted to ask for your feedback on some ideas to help ASMSU better grow and improve its relationship with students and campus. Here are some of my ideas: redesigned website, town-hall meetings, ASMSU branding, bulletin boards, advertising on RHA TV, advertising on Campus Center Cinemas, surveys to help shape ASMSU's goals and preformance, book swap website, ASMSU speaking with students at AOP, organizing fun and engaging events for students, and working with RHA and UAB to boost awareness of student issues.
Let me know what you guys think: what is good, what can be better, and ideas that we have not thought of. Thanks!

UCAG Update
I sit on the University Committee for Academic Governance. We have been reviewing the By-Laws over this past year and we are close to passing them. We will be going over them at the Academic Council meetings on March 23 and March 30. I am happy about the amended By-Laws as they stand after our meeting today. They allow MSU students more of a voice in the curiculum process and they really cut down on redundancy and streamline the By-Laws as a whole.
